Mind chargers—Discover your daily energy boosters
Two guys are on a mission, hunting for a legendary power weapon. Their journey takes them to a room enclosed in steel, a fortress of darkness. No light penetrates the walls—absolute darkness. They believe they've found the weapon's secret hiding place. With anticipation, they force the door open, only to face disappointment. No weapon in sight, just a feeble young woman lying there. Exhausted, drained, and barely able to stand. Compassion fills their hearts, and they whisk her away from her captors. But their act of mercy kicks off chaos—gunshots echoing, mercenaries closing in. Cornered, it seems like the end is near. But then, a twist unfolds—the soldiers raise their gaze skyward. Up there, the frail girl is floating, absorbing the sun's rays. She's none other than the Supergirl herself 🦸🏻♀️, her strength drawn from the sun. With renewed power, she takes on all the bad guys in no time.
This was a sequence from a DC Movie, The Flash.
We might not be superheroes, but our days are brimming with hidden sources of energy waiting to recharge our minds.
Here are some of my mind chargers. I bet they’ll work as well for you too:
The tiny magicians
Imagine a tough day at work, and you're searching for solace. I find my sanctuary in my 11-year-old's magical hug. When those tiny arms wrap around my neck, it’s precious.
In those brief moments, it's as if my spirits get an instant recharge. My husband and I lovingly call him the ‘charger’ of the family.
If you don’t have kids, try the following instead.
The nightly spell of loved ones
Imagine a night stroll beside someone you deeply connect with. The moon casts its gentle glow, and serenity blankets the surroundings. It's as if the world is in harmony. Sometimes, the distant hooting of an owl adds to the tranquil atmosphere. Bumping into your close friends walking their furry companions adds an extra layer of positivity to the evening.
In fact, the mere presence of a beloved pet can work wonders as I recall my beautiful Labrador. No wonder walking your dog is one of the most popular stressbusters these days, especially in the hustle of professional life.
Rejuvenating in solitude with nature
Now, imagine a brisk run along the shoreline. Waves crash, and towering trees form a serene canopy. I have a favorite spot, a lagoon embraced by weeping willow trees. Birds serenade, while turtles leisurely traverse the pond's surface. The scene is a symphony of peace, an orchestra that replenishes my spirits. And I am so glad to be there to soak it all in.
A long walk/run in nature is undoubtedly one of the best energy boosters and a source of creative ideas.
Creation as an energy elixir
When you create something, whether it's writing or crafting, a sense of fulfillment rushes in. It's like infusing a piece of your soul into your creation. Even if your work isn't flawless, the fact that you poured your heart into it gives it a unique value. Engaging in creative pursuits such as writing, sketching, composing music, or even building Legos can recharge your mind remarkably.
Life isn’t just full of people and experiences that charge you. It’s also full of things that drain you. A heated argument with a colleague, performance stress at work, rising inflation, not-so-rising compensations, work that doesn’t appeal to heart but must be done, and so on.
There are things that drain our minds, leaving us fatigued and disheartened.
To make way for more ‘chargers’ and remove ‘drainers’ from your days, try this simple exercise.
Nurturing Yourself: A Reflection Exercise
Consider this simple practice: jot down the things that uplift your spirits and those that leave you drained.
Self-introspect - how much time are you currently spending charging yourself on a daily basis? How about the draining activities? What makes up more than 50% of your wake hours?
Dedicate more time to activities that invigorate you. Seek ways to minimize encounters that deplete your energy. It's about granting your mind a reprieve.
So, remember, you don't need superhuman abilities to feel rejuvenated. Unearth the sources of energy that resonate with you, and integrate them into your day. It's like giving your mind a high-five and whispering, "You've got this!"
