I was interviewing a young designer recently. Besides an impressive portfolio of work, he had the perfect resume. He went to a design school, took up relevant projects, and landed the right job. I admire people who have a singular focus professionally, mostly because my resume is all over the place 😅. I graduated in Biology, got interested in software programming, landed a job in marketing, switched to technical writing, started a design studio, picked up copywriting, and so on. I don’t have a golden path to show, unlike so many specialists I see around me.
If you’re like me, don’t fret. You might see yourself as ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. But, there’s one thing you are a master of — reinventing yourself. And it’s not an easy skill to master.
In fact, it’s going to be the most essential skill in our AI-driven future.
“To keep up with the world of 2050, you will need to do more than merely invent new ideas and products, but above all, reinvent yourself again and again.”
— Yuval Noah Harari
Not just professionally, reinventing ourselves is something we need to be doing at an emotional and physical level as well.
❥ At a later stage in life, you realize you lack physical fitness. Reinvent yourself to become the strongest and fittest self yet.
❥ Your days and months are passing by working for others, maybe it’s time to start doing something for yourself.
❥ Your current relationships feel more like a burden. Maybe it’s time to move on.
❥ People who you care about most don’t know you do, it’s time to reinvent relationships that matter.
It’s never too late to reinvent yourself. It’s never too late to 10x your life 🙌
Just at the right time 🙂
