What's a good day?
What makes a good day? It's a question that I came across on a Reddit thread recently, and it got me thinking. Before you read ahead, take a moment to visualize what your ideal day would look like 💭.
Many of the responses on that Reddit thread were about relaxing on a beach holiday, soaking in the sun, and sipping margaritas.
While that sounds like a great vacation, it made me wonder — Why should the best moments be limited to holidays? What about the rest of our lives?
Maybe you're thinking that you have deadlines to meet, bills to pay, and kids to raise. How can you afford an ideal day every day? Life is always getting in the way.
But let's take a step back forward.
Imagine that in a few years, you have full control over your time. You're not bound by office hours anymore. You can work and play whenever you want.
What does your good day look like now?
Surprisingly, when most people think about this, they don't see themselves escaping on vacation to feel good. Instead, every day is a good day. Each day is fulfilling.
Of course, what makes your day fulfilling will be different from mine.
It might mean quitting a tiresome corporate job and working on your own business.
It might mean taking a long walk on the beach followed by an intensive session of writing.
It might mean moving a client meeting an hour later because your buddy called for a game of badminton.
Now here's the fun part. Whatever it is that you visualize yourself doing in the future, let's bring it closer to the present.
Today, you might not be able to quit your job and spend all day working on your business idea. But you can spend an hour a day towards your dream. If your ideal day includes 4 hours of writing, start by writing for an hour now.
Whatever the components of your good day in the future, pull them to your present, on a smaller scale.
Because if you can’t dig out an hour now, you’ll never be able to take out 4 hours in the future.
Bring home your future. Bring home your good day.
P.S. What does the hour hold for you? Hit reply and let me know, if you feel like sharing :) Either way, I wish you good luck 🍀
